An independent consultation before buying any POS hardware is recommended. Even in 2016, there's still a lot of misleading marketing and sales messages. Don't just get "EMV Ready", get EMV enabled, live today with all the solutions you need.

POS Solutions fall into 4 categories:

  1. Standalone dial up or ethernet "terminals", typically for single store small businesses; contact for recommendations.
  2. Terminal driven by hosted payment solution (Internet connection, web browser, terminal application and hosted payment solution which communicates with the terminal or mobile device); for example, CenPOS.
  3. POS Software with integrated hosted payment solution- same as above, except the point of sale software calls out to the hosted payment solution to collect the payment, then reverts back to the POS software. For example, Microsoft Dynamics AX and CenPOS; CenPOS payments are segregated from the POS application to reduce PCI Compliance scope.
  4. POS integration in scope for PCI Compliance; if the card data touches the software, the application must be PA DSS certified. Most companies have moved away from this type of solution due to the PCI Compliance burden and risk associated with touching card data.
